STEM in Action at BCES!
Our students had a blast putting their imaginations to work as they engineered towers and bridges using everyday materialsβpipe cleaners, cardboard squares, wooden blocks, and Velcro popsicle sticks!
Through hands-on building, they explored creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork while discovering that STEM is all about experimenting, revising, and trying again.
We love seeing our students dream big, build boldly, and learn through play!

π BCES Food Drive: November 1β18 π
We are excited to announce that Barbour County Elementary School is hosting a Food Drive to support the Retired Teachers Association of Barbour County! This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to those who have given so much to our schools and community.
Our goal is to collect 300β400 nonperishable food items to help retired educators and a local family in need this Thanksgiving. Items such as canned goods, boxed meals, soups, and pantry staples are greatly appreciated.
Students are encouraged to bring donations to their homeroom classrooms. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference! Letβs come together as a school family to show our gratitude and make this season a little brighter for those who have paved the way for us.

π¨ Talking Turkey! π¦
In preparation for their next art project, Ms. Wilsonβs 5th grade art students explored the world of turkey farms in 360 degree views! They learned that turkeys provide more than just meat β turkey byproducts are also used to create fertilizer that helps grow plants to feed other farm animals. Students also discussed how farmers grow healthy turkeys, maintain safety, and follow biosecurity measures to protect both animals and people.
What a great way to connect art, science, and agriculture!
